What does your office and desk look like? What does your home look like? Is it a mess of papers and other clutter? Can you never find what you are looking for? One of the biggest productivity killers is a messy and cluttered environment. If you do not have things organized and know exactly where everything is then you could be wasting a lot of time searching for items that could be spent more productively.
If you spend a lot of time at your desk then start there and consider how neat and organized it is. Have you got a place for everything, and is everything in its place? This should be your basic rule in keeping any area neat and organized. A well-organized desk should mean that you can easily reach for anything that you need to do your job. Any time you spend searching for an item could be better spent. You should also try to limit the number of items you have on or in your desk to those that you really do need, this way you make it easier to separate things and keep them easily within reach.
Another place to consider is your home. If you do not have time to organize your home yourself then ask someone else to do it for you. If another family member does not want to, or cannot, do it themselves then call in a professional organizer. How much time have you wasted searching for your keys before you leave for work in the morning? How many items have gone missing at home because your home is disorganized and cluttered? By having a neat and organized home you will be able to save a lot of time in getting ready for work each morning and will be able to spend your evenings, weekends and holidays doing more enjoyable activities.
A cluttered and disorganized home and office is a major productivity killer, but if your home and office are well-organized and neat then you will save a lot of time spent searching for items and the environment will encourage a more productive lifestyle. Take some time today to ensure that your environment is neat and well-organized.
